BUDAPEST

Budapest:

Early start with a bus tour. There is a wealth of history here, both ancient and recent. The relative recent history of this city from Nazi occupation to a communist oppression has led to to what they are now, a growing thriving country.

We visited the Hero’s Square where our guide stood as a young girl when her country separated from Communism.  We drove by many of the very ornate buildings and then to the Fishermans Bastion. Here there were excellent views of the city and a visit to the Chapel. From here we departed the tour group and made our way by foot to the Chain Bridge and past the Shoes Memorial.

Of course we found the Christmas Market and had a cabbage roll and a sausage for lunch. We did get a mug to add to the Christmas Market mug collection. We did get a couple of chocolates for desert.

From the Christmas market we made our way to the Great Market. Here we browsed the many stalls and then headed back to the ship. Lynn is packing and I am staying out of the way.

Tonight as night falls our ship will depart for a scenic night time dinner cruise. Should be spectacular.
