Reykjavik 7/25/2019
I was up early, 0430, got dressed and was out and about. We sailed past Keflavik, where the airport is located. The weather is brisk and over head skies are clear with a band of clouds over the land to our east. I did get some sunrise photos as the sun cleared the cloud bank. I am not sure what the day’s weather will be, so we will be prepared for it all,.
The plan is to get off and procure a Reykjavik Card which will give us access to many attractions and transportation options. We will start to the Living History area and then to Videy Island, back into town to see what we can find there. I am sure we will have at least one hot dog, or more.
TOO MUCH TO DO IN ONE AND A HALF DAYS!!!!!
We started on a quest for a Reykjavik Card. The Ice Wear shop did not have the two day card so off to town we went.
We found the card at the Info Center and headed to the Settlement Museum. This is fine exhibit of the early settlers of Iceland and how they lived.
From there we walked about the older section of Reykjavik finding the Elf Stone and the Oldest House. Then it was time for a hot dog, but not the last.

I miss these
We then started toward the Maritime Museum, but decided to take the first ferry to Videy Island.
Harpa
On Videy we joined a free walking tour and learned about Skuli Magnason who was the noted resident of the island. He was the Danish Finance Minister and built the first store house in Reykjavik.
Lynn had miscounted on one of my meds (she felt really really bad) so we had to make a trip to a clinic to get a prescription. I was amazed at how easy the process was.
We then went to the Bonus Store for licorice as this is where to find the best price.
Then on a bus to our favorite City Pool for a soak. After a soak we enjoyed another hot dog. Back to the ship to a beer at O’Gills with some snacks and off to bed.

This was a great Fanta drink

The next day we started out early with a shuttle into town. We found a favorite bakery where we had a Kleinur (Icelandic Doughnut).
Quiet Morning
One can find lots of these murals all over Reykjavik, they are commissioned works.
Then off to the pool for a morning soak. The pools are very calm in the morning.
From the pool, we walked to the Botanical Gardens and City Zoo. We visited our favorite animals. I should also mention the Botanical Gardens were very very nice. The flowers seemed so vibrant.
Walking back to the pool where, yes, we had another hot dog before catching the bus back to the city. We stopped at the Sol Fir (Sun Voyager) and found a geocache we could not locate during out last visit.

We then took the shuttle back to the ship.
