DEN to MCO and AKL
Where to now, you may ask. This journey will be taking us to Florida, Walt Disney Word for two nights staying at The Animal Kingdom Lodge (AKL) Club Level (concierge) and then to Port Canaveral to board the Disney Wonder on Sunday April 8, 2018. We will be sailing from Port Canaveral, Florida to San Diego California, via the Panama Canal. Our Ports of Call will be Disney’s Castaway Cay, Formerly Gorda Cay, Cartagena Columbia, Transit the New Panama Canal, Punta Arenas Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta and then Cabo San Lucas, and finally docking in San Diego.
The attraction to this trip is the New Canal and adding two new countries, raising our total of countries visited to 105. So, yes there will some new flags to be raised at the Adventure Club.
We will be making this trip using our Disney Vacation Club Points for the pre-cruise stay at Animal Kingdom and the Cruise.
The Disney Wonder will be our home for the 14 day sailing and we will be in a Navigators Veranda on Deck 7. This Stateroom is our favorite for location and the semi enclosed veranda and it’s seating area.
The Jeep was packed and ready to go, so after printing our boarding passes, we were on the road. First stop was the bank to make a deposit and cash a check and for The Boys to get a treat. Next stop was Puppy Camp and the howling started as we pulled into their driveway. The Boys drug me all the way to the door and inside, they are very very powerful. They bounced around, jumping on the counter to say hi to the folks at Puppy Camp. Off they went to their home for the next few weeks and were meeting and greeting the other campers. As they do grooming at Puppy Camp, we asked that The Boys get de-thatched while they are there. We told them Kenai might really freak as he is a wimp and not to worry if he become a problem.
Then we drove to Denver, stopping at a couple of places, Duluth Trading Company, REI, and Cabela’s. At Duluth Trading, the manager and I were talking about their products and he will be looking at products we use. I gave him a card and he took some notes.
We had a very uneventful flight to Orlando. We gathered our luggage and made our way to Magical Express for a bus ride to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Seemed to be a good bit of traffic but all went well. When we landed we received a text msg advising our room was ready. We were greeted by the concierge staff as we got off the bus and, being old hands at AKL, we were good to go after we had a nice chat about South Africa.

Concierge early evening offerings
We grabbed our bags and made our way to our room, dropped off the bags and met with the concierge desk. We are low maintenance so that was quick and easy. We received our check in gift, a bag of trail mix kinda stuff.
We settled in and had drinks and some great food offerings, a chicken in tomato sauce with rice dish, tomato soup, cheese and nan breads, nicely done, it was fun to talk with the cast members.
I grabbed the camera and took a few photos of the lobby from the lounge area.
Tonight we are heading to the Contemporary Top of the World to meet friends and watch fireworks.
After the fireworks we made our way back to AKL. Ready to crash.
