AKL to Port and Sail Away!!

AKL to Port and sail away etc etc

This morning we awoke and went to the lounge for breakfast, many nice offerings were had. After breakfast we packed our two suitcases for transport to Port Canaveral. It was very nice to not have to transport and schlep bags, although only one bag would not be bad.

We did a walk-about to see what critters are hanging on the savannas. We saw the usual suspects, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, antelope, and flamingos.

Soon it was time to gather at the meeting point and we were soon escorted to the motor coach and we were on our way to the port.

We arrived at the Port, through security and signed in and received our stateroom keys. As we boarded, the Hotel Manager, Lloyd recognized us from across the atrium and came over to greet us.  We then headed to Tiana’s Place for lunch, but found it closed so off to Cabanas. We had shrimp and fish and a fried rice, salad and more shrimp.

Our room was ready and we got our carry on bags unpacked. We noticed we had cast off the lines and were on our way about 4:45, 15 minutes early. We halted our unpacking and went to deck 10 to sail away.

Our room steward is Luis from the Philippines and he is a go getter and eager to meet any of our requests. We are pretty low maintenance and only asked for wine glasses and ice.

We then went back to the room and got ready for the muster drill. Lucky we had an inside muster station.

Returning to the room, one bag had arrived and the unpacking started. Soon there after the second bag arrived. What we do is always place a bit of each others clothes in each bag should one not arrive.  We unpacked and went for a walkabout, had a small snack as  dinner was not for three more hours. A friend had asked us to take some gifts to some of the officers, and as Guest Services was not busy we made the delivery. Next we got our phones set up for the 50Mb of free internet and our phones set up for a cruise app.

The weather has been overcast, a nice breeze, and low humidity, just to my suiting.

Back to the room to change for dinner.

Our server is Sem and Margaret is our assistant server. The head server did not stop by.

We strolled about the ship, getting our DVC hats and chatting with officers before dinner. We were the first to arrive at an eight top table. No one else arrived and we were told there was another couple who were to be seated with us. As we were alone for dinner, we received great service and were out of dinner much earlier than usual.

Lynn’s dinner was a mango passion fruit soup, couscous salad, and halibut for the main. I had calamari, and a pork roast wellington, all were great. We split a mango cheesecake for desert.  We enjoyed our after-dinner walk around deck 10. The deck was rather wet and we are guessing it had been  raining.

Sorry no pics today, I just sailed away.
