April 10, A Day At Sea

April 10, 2018 Day at sea

Got up and at um doing laps before sunrise. After sunrise off to my table for breakfast.

After breakfast we attended the Good Morning Disney Wonder Show. Here the Cruise Director briefs us on the up-coming highlights of the day. The Guest there was Ken Puckett, a retired Master Pilot for the Panama Canal, and his nautical resume is amazing.

Next we went to Ken Puckett’s presentation about the building of the canal. He did an excellent job hitting the highlights of the canal construction. He stated he condensed two one hour presentations into one 45 minute presentation. I am looking forward to his future lectures. I must still recommend David McCullough’s book, “Path Between the Seas” as a source for an in-depth behind the scenes book  dealing with the history of the canal.

After this presentation, we scurried to a cooking demo but arrived too late to get a seat, so we started a photo scavenger hunt.

Soon it was time to attend a Gold and Platinum return cruiser program, where we got a behind the scenes look at  inner workings of the stage presentations.

From there, we cleaned up and made our way to Palo, the adult northern Italian themed restaurant for their brunch. We were warmly greeted by Sasha, a past Palo server and Semet, our server for the day. We enjoy this upscale buffet with all the wonderful offerings. Seafood, Pastry, Cheese, all excellently prepared. The desserts are story in themselves. All was impeccable. We were actually very controlled and did not over eat, I think what helped is we had a later seating for this event, which made it more of a lunch rather than a mid morning brunch.

While at Palo we did see some people we have sailed with many times before and had just learned they were on this cruise. Good to see them and we will plan a breakfast or lunch together.

Back at our room, we changed clothes and and prepared for the evening show and Captain’s reception.

The evening show is The Golden Mickeys, basically highlighting Disney Films  where the hero overcomes adversity to come out on top.

Dinner was at Tiana’s Place, themed after the Princess and Frog Disney Feature movie set in New Orleans. The food is good but lacks a NOL zip.

We then got in our evening deck 10 walkabout, very humid as there was moisture on the deck.

Made a quick email check and all is well as we had no major issues to deal with at home.
