 081326 THE GREENLAND EXPLORATION CONTINUES:

 

 


Morning Report : Current Position is 70° 55’ 36.5” N , 27° 34’ 32.9” W, Speed  4.6kn, COG 346°, Wind 115° at 4.2 m/s.

The days weather is a bit different, no sunny skies as the sky is overcast. 

 

We are still and will be for a good bit in Scoresby Sund as it is the largest fjord in the world. The area we are in is Rodepynt. 

Plan A for today is to start with a landing at Rodepyt. Those that choose can polar plunge if they desire. This landing was a soft sandy beach with towering sandstone cliffs. We did a steep hike up the hill for a good view of the area. This landing started with a misty rain that soon stopped. Even though it was cloudy the weather was warm, I was soon shedding my hat and buff and opening up the park while still sweating. 

 

 



1130 - Destination Presentation - Greenland &
Canada. We have a booking in the wings for next September so thought we outta take a listen to see what to expect. 

Then after lunch we will be doing some scenic cruising in Hereford fjord near a glacier terminus. 

1400 Discovery Session - Constellations and the movement of Planets

The Constellation talk was interrupted by a Musk Ox sighting. Yes a tiny dark dot on the hillside. I did get some far reaching images, mostly Musk Ox But. 

We then went zodiac cruising to the face of the Harefjord Glacier. It was a bit cooler but not bad at all. The bergs from the glacier still enthrall me.   

1730 Lecture - Explore the Bird Diversity of Greenland  - Great talk about the birds of the area. Andreus did a wonder fun job. We took copious notes for the rest of this trip and future trips.
