DENVER TO BERGEN : A MIGHTY LONG AIRPLANE RIDE(S):

DENVER TO BERGEN : A MIGHTY LONG AIRPLANE RIDE(S):

Gotta love the WC signs in the Bergen Airport

Our day started at 0300 leaving the Denver Airport Ramada. Parking the Jeep at The Parking Spot and shuttle into the airport. Dropped our bags and a seamless TSA experience as we have Clear.

Off to the United Club Lounge on Concourse B. This lounge has recently been renovated and they did a great job. They had breakfast burritos which were very good.

Our first flight would be from Denver (DEN) to Chicago (ORD). Well, due to weather and a ground stop at ORD we departed a couple hours late.

When we travel in the winter time we make sure our connections are not tight.  We arrived in ORD about two hours late. We still had enough time to visit the UAL Club before the next flight to Frankfurt (FRA).

                                        FRA Sunrise
                                      Almost to Bergen

Yes, you guessed it we were delayed getting out of ORD. Yes we landed late in FRA but with about an hour to make our next and final flight. No time for a lounge, but even though we were in the same terminal we needed to clear passport control and nothing is ever close in FRA.

The last flight of this journey was a Lufthansa flight to Bergen (BGO) Norway. This one departed and arrived on time.

Flying into BGO we noticed the snow covered landscape. The local temp was 32F or 0 C.

Off the plane and to baggage claim.

We met a very nice lady from Canada who will be sailing with us on the MS Midnatsol. She was traveling into the city and asked us what the best way to the city. We told her we would would be taking the Light Rail in and the walking to our hotel. She asked if she could journey with us and, of course, we said sure.

This was our first time using the Light Rail and found it to be rather convenient and easy to use.

We purchased our Senior rate tickets and off we went. The light rail takes about 45 minutes to get from the airport to City Center. The cost for a Senior is 47NOK ($4.16 USD). Our Canadian friend got off at the Bus station and planned to get a cab to her hotel. We rode to the end of the line.

Our hotel the Clarion Admiral is about a kilometer away. The walk was a bit sloppy as some sections of the sidewalks were not shoveled and the snow was sloppy. We were planning on walking to the ship form the hotel a bit over 2K but, our minds have been changed by the sidewalk conditions. A cab will be called.

We checked in to the Clarion Hotel Admiral and our room was ready. The lady at the front desk was friendly and we had a nice chat.

Up to our room and shifted some luggage and clothes around and struck out to get a Reindeer Hot Dog. It was another sloppy walk but well worth it.

Trekroneren is the place to go for a hot dog in Bergen. The sausages they serve are good sized and we usually split one.

We had a Reindeer one with the traditional toppings which are, spicy mustard, lingonberry sauce and crispy onions. This was a delight that made the long flights worth it.

On the way back to the hotel we made a stop at a local grocery store to get some bits of food and drink for later tonight when we get hungry. That is if we wake up.

Time get some some sleep and rest.
