KYSTEN DINING, AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE:
Yes this is a special entry to the blog as last nights dining deserve it’s own entry. After our Gathering (Daily Briefing) we stopped by Kysten the fine dining venue here on the MS Midnatsol. Prior to our trip we had prepaid for a couple nights of dining there, so needed to make reservations.
We then went to the main dining room for dinner and found it full and very busy. Not wanting to wait for a table we decided to go back to Kysten and see if we could dine there this evening. Yes we could and we were the only ones dining there this evening. This was an Amazing Meal. Yes BEYOND WORDS!
I started with the raw shrimp with sea urchins from Ecofang, Norway. Truffle seaweed, lightly smoked sour cream, pickled salsify, horseradish and dill vinaigrette.
The Second Starter was - Butter-fried snow crab from Dragon, Norway. Tangy tomato salsa, dill and chive emulsion, truffle seaweed. Lynn also had this starter.
For the main course we both had the reindeer. Reindeer entrecôte from Stensaas, Norway. Reindeer in red wine sauce, sugar kelp, sautéed Norwegian mushrooms and Jerusalem artichoke chips.
Sorry I started before I remembered to get a photo.
For desert we both had the following. Aquavit marinated cloudberries with Arctic ice cream. Caramel crunch, chocolate soil, truffle seaweed, cloudberry syrup and crystalized mint.
I paired my meal with the Havet’s Bobler (starters and deserts) and a nice full red with hint of berries to go with the reindeer.
I was so full I could not even think about enjoying the cheese offerings. I will next time for sure.
Our server was great and being the only ones there we were well cared for. We shared stories of travel and dogs and more.
