A Typhoon Day at Tokyo Disneyland.
Typhoon Vongfong gave us a rainy day today. We had coffee and some cinnamon rolls and were soon off walking to Tokyo Disneyland (TDL). The walk took us about 15 easy minutes. We arrived at the entrance early and found the resort guest entrance. The early entry gives resort guests a 15 minute head start into the park.
After we entered we went to the right and rode Monsters Inc. Ride and Go seek. This is a cute ride, one enters the ride vehicle sitting two abreast. The goal here is to use a flashlight to spot Monsters as you make your way through the Laugh Factory. Fun and cute. Before riding Monsters we got a fast pass for Winnie The Pooh’s Honey Hunt.
While walking about we got a pumpkin flavored churro. Honestly I can not remember having a churro at any Disney Park but had to try the pumpkin.
We then went to Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, not much different withe this attraction compared to the other parks versions.
Peter Pans Flight is just like the other parks with the exception of a fresher look at the very end end.
Snow White was next and the effects on the Apple were noted as being very nice, dripping with the green spell.
We then started to walk over to explore Westernland and Adventureland. We stumbled upon the Enchanted Tiki Room Stitch Presents E Komo Mai. Really enjoyed this show and used a hand held translation device to get the English subtitles.
The line was short for the Western River Rail Road, so we made a grand circle
tour. Well not a total Grand Circle tour but the tour of the Rail Road. A nice and enjoyable ride.
We then stumbled upon Boiler Bites where there were pork filled steam buns shaped like Mickey’s Head. Very good.
As our Fast Pass window for pooh was about to start we headed to the Haunted Mansion and got another Fast Pass.
Then we went to Winnie the Pooh’s Honey Hunt. This ride is pretty darn KEWL as the Honey Pots do not travel on a track. I would guess the travel via electronic magnets and each Honey Pot whizzes about making for a great ride.
After Pooh we went to Haunted Mansion to use our Fast Pass. The Haunted Mansion here is themed like DL with Jack Skellington. It is such a great addition and I was glad we saw this seasonal setting.
Next we went and got a FP for Buzz followed by a stroll through World Bazaar, think Main Street. Several restaurants and shops.
As we were making our way to Pecos Bills for a meat pie for Lunch we noted a very very short line for Pirates of the Caribbean. A nice version of this attraction.
We had lunch of meat pies and a mango tapioca drink. After lunch we made our way to The Mark Twain River Boat for a ride.
BIG SQUEEGEE
We then explored Critter Country, then slowly made our way through the Castle to the hub towards Buzz.
The rain had abated and the parade was about to start and there was great viewing areas available. So we enjoyed the Happiness is Here Parade. WOW what a great Parade. While WDW’s new parade is excellent this parade has a great energy making it my favorite.
After the parade we went to Buzz, pretty much like all the others Buzz attractions, except that the colors were much more vibrant here. Fun as they tell you the values for the different targets.
After Buzz I got a little green guy popcorn bucket. There are so many different popcorn buckets available that I can hardly start to describe them all. The popcorn buckets are a good deal as refills are reasonable. Many guests bring their popcorn buckets from home to take advantage of this deal. To accompany buckets there is a multitude of popcorn flavors. These range from regular, to caramel, to Soy and butter, to chocolate, to white chocolate, to curry, and to honey.
We then grabbed a snack at the Tomorrowland Terrace before using our FP on Space Mountain. This Space Mountain is a very smooth ride where you sit side by side. No music, and a Space Mountain ride like the others.
After Space Mountain we went and strolled Toon Town while awaiting the Halloween Parade. As the rain was getting heavier we were not surprised the parade was canceled, due to the weather. All subsequent parades and fireworks were canceled due to weather.
We decided to head back to the hotel and Lynn would shop all the way back. We like to find an item to use as an ornament on our Travel Christmas tree, Lynn also wanted to get a TDL shirt, but alas these were not to be found in any way shape or form.
We made our way back picking up some drinks and food for a light dinner in our room.
We also made the arrangements for the Airport Limo to take us back to Narita on Thursday. We also found an item to use as an ornament in the hotel gift shop.
Some general thoughts -
While Tokyo Disney Land is only 31 years old the property is extremely well maintained. At WDW and DL some if not many of the attractions are showing wear. At TDL everything was as if new.
The TDL cast members are great, very helpful and it seemed there were a lot more working the attractions and parades compared to WDW or DL.
TDL is amazingly clean, nary a scrap of trash to be found. Every thing looked very fresh to me.
TDL is built to handle large crowds and this is appreciated for sure.
Typhoon VongFong is due to hit here in a couple of hours. The front desk has advised of heavy winds and rain. This may last till noon tomorrow, so we will see.
We were awaken by the wind and rain.
So did you like the pumpkin churro? And I noticed a Waffle Company picture. Did you go try a waffle with ice cream for me?
