Only disadvantage to being packed up early is you forget what was and what was not packed. Try as we may we do make lists for each bag but will still have to do a re-check every once in awhile. For this trip we will be using many modes of public transport, so we are traveling light. One checked bag each, for carryon we will have a day backpack and another small bag. My small bag will hold camera gear.
We will start this journey in Great Britain, arriving July 4th. On our arrival evening we will be attending the Monty Python Live (Mostly) performance. The next day we are up early to take the train to Leeds to see friends and see the Grand Depart of Le Tour de France. The next day we we again journey by rail to the Brooklands Museum, again meeting friends and enjoy the day. Aviation and Motorbikes, as well as it is the Ace Cafe Ton Up Day. The next day we will stay in London and watch Le Tour’s arrival and finish on The Mall.
The next day we rail to Dover and board a P&O Ferry to Calais. Gather our rental car and drive to Lille. We will base there and catching various starts and sections of Le Tour. Excited to see some of the famed cobbles of the famed Paris-Roubaix.
Next we drive to Paris and board an overnight train to Venice. One day in Venice meandering around the canals. Visiting Harry’s Bar, a haunt of Hemingway and many other great authors.
Then we board the Disney Magic to sail south for a few days ending in Barcelona. (more on this part later)
The first part of our trip will be somewhat hectic with late nights and early mornings.
We are so looking forward to the Monty Python Live show, seeing friends in Great Britain, The Grand Depart of Le Tour, lots of rail travel, a ferry crossing of the channel, le Tour in northern France, seeing some of the cobbles of Paris -Roubaix.
Should be a grand trip.
We will be updating our travels here as well as Facebook as Internet is available. So sit back relax and enjoy traveling with us.
VIVE LE TOUR!!!!!!!
