A SEA DAY SAILING NORTH:
While the sea looks calm we are pitching and rolling a bit.
After breakfast there was to have been a wildlife watch but the weather was not cooperative.
Then there was a great lecture about glaciers.
While the seas look calm there is a good bit of rolling going on.
I made a few laps the deck just to see what could see. Things are rather calm and sparse viewing this morning. We did see a few spouts in the distance.
The afternoon started with a waffle station in the Explorers Lounge.
Then there was a very nice talk about minerals, an excellent review of some basic geology.
Next up was our polar bear briefing, here we learned of the do’s and dot's.
We have already taken a dip both north adn south so we will pass.
New regulations were initiated January 1 of this year. These regulation mandate how close we can get to Polar Bears and what actions we must take should a polar bear be encountered.
Then we had a lovely dinner and now ready to call it a night. The seas are getting a bit more active and we are expecting 3+ meter waves this evening.
We should reach Svalbard at about 1200 tomorrow.
