4/6/25 Two Landing Kinda Day:
In the briefing last night we learned we would try and make two landings today. The first is at Bamsebu and the second is Varosolbutka.
Our boat group will be the first off on Bamsebu and the last on Varosolbutka. The boat group landing times are rotated throughout the voyage.
The Skies are clear and the sea is calm. We need to get breakfast and change into landing attire and be ready at 0800.
Bamsebu cabin is one you can submit your name into a lottery and, if lucky, stay in the cabin. One must be sure to bring all that they will need and then some.
You arrive by boat or snowmobile. Oft time these remote cabins are used for research especially in the winter months. It would be dark but I bet you get some great Northern Lights pictures.
Here I was able to get some Sandpiper photos.
For lunch we had sausages and burgers on the Deck 7 BBQ. This was nice. I was too full after the burger to have a sausage.
Varosolbutka was our second landing. Here we were lucky to have some rather cooperative Reindeer. There were Puffins and Guillemots and an occasional goose flying about.
These images might not appear why I do not know.
Back on the ship we caught the briefing for tomorrow. Yes, Ny-Ålesund is a research station and we will not have any internet for the time we are there.
Today I got a bit dehydrated. As there are no facilities available when we make these landings, you try and consume less water. It caught up to me today.
