SPECIAL SHAPES KINDA MORNING AND COMPETITION

SPECIAL SHAPES KINDA MORNING AND COMPETITION

I got to the launch field just as the Dawn Patrol took off. Their flight path indicated a fast moving wind out of the North.

Some of the Special Shapes inflated but did not fly due to the wind speed. I had positioned myself at the South end of the field in anticipation of the balloons flying overhead.

I then went to the media tent and acquired a safety vest to photo the mornings competition event. As part of the photo team, I am allowed on the competition field that is closed to spectators.  Today it was actually three different event and I positioned myself for the Ring Toss. In the event field there are several poles set up and the balloonists try to toss a ring over the pole. The poles have a scoring cash value which is unknown to the pilots. I did not see anyone make a successful ringer, but some were very close.

I hope you are enjoying the photos and learning a bit about the AIBF. This is truly an amazing event which has to be experienced, as words and pictures can not even come close.
