Yes, We are off to Shanghai, we needed to make a milage run and the airfare to Shanghai was very affordable. $530 round trip, status upgrade to Economy Plus should make for a tolerable long day of flying. More on the plans for this trip in tomorrows entry.
This is quick trip to get some airline miles and, as usual, we spend a night in Denver before we fly out for a trip. We do this especially in the winter as weather can be an issue driving on I-25. As it is the Christmas season we might as well go and support the Denver Zoo and see the Zoo Lights.
For the past 28 years, the Denver Zoo has been illuminated by thousands of Christmas lights. This event started the end of November and goes through the first week of January. It is a separate ticket event and some nights, mostly weekends and holidays, sell out.
This year we got our tickets for 12/4 with an early entry time of 5:30 PM. The entry times are staggered so as to help with the flow of visitors.
Having been to several zoos around the world, I think the Denver Zoo is a great zoo and they continue to improve the facility. By visiting the zoo on these special ticket events, we are supporting this great zoo.
Being a Tuesday, the crowds were virtually nonexistent and made the experience rather enjoyable.
