Back to Shigatse:
Peter’s briefing last night was about a couple of his climbs on Everest and sometimes the toll this can take, hit a note or two for me.
Nothing like Yak Butter Sherpa Tea and a Yak Mo Mo to get ya going in the morning. Our room was a brisk 51 degrees F. One other traveler’s eye drops froze. The rooms were described as jewel boxes which look beautiful but lack expected necessities like heat and hot water.
We started the day with a walkabout in the older part of the village of Xegar. Here we experienced the back alleyways as the village came to life.
We then started our journey back to Shigatse. We backtracked the way we came, stopping to take a final look at Everest.
Lunch was across from a village where we were visited by the local livestock.
We arrived back in Shigatse and checked into our hotel and did a load of laundry and went out shopping to a local market. As we returned to one lady vendor she recognized us and was easier to barter with. As we left, she gave me a Z, meaning “eye”, a bead which brings good fortune.

My favorite vendor, who gave me a very good price. She was just so much fun to deal with we laughed a good bit while haggling for a price.

This looks and sounds like such an incredibly amazing experience...
