Sombrero China and Sullivan Bay Santiago
Late start of 0730 breakfast and then a zodiac ride. Here we saw herons and sea lions and a hawk, but alas no penguins. Returned to the ship to get ready for snorkeling.
As we drifted along we saw many many nice fish, a couple of white tip sharks, then right there in front of me were two Galapagos Penguins swimming towards me. The Galapagos Penguin is the northernmost penguin. I fire up the Go Pro only to find a dead battery - rats!!!!!!!
Later we find three penguins on a rock and Lynn gets some pictures.
Expedition leader Lynn Fowler gave a presentation on her Doctorate research, she is the niece of Jim Fowler.
Our evening walk was on a lava flow. This gives one a good perspective on how the islands were formed. This is one of the newer islands, lava has not broken down as much as the older islands we have been on previously.
Brian the videographer gave us a preview of the video he has been filming all week. Then there was a presentation with the video microscope of various critters in sea water.
Dinner was a BBQ on the Sky Deck.
