Next Stop Main Street USA!!!!!

Sorry it has been a while:

Pre Disneyland Trip -

After returning from Europe we have had almost a month at home.  Our Malamute pup, Taiya,  decided she needed TPLO ( puppy equivalent to  human ACL) surgery.  This has involved keeping her very quiet and doing puppy PT.  So, in that respect, it was good we had nothing planned. I ended up having jury duty for a 3 day DUI trial. I was the alternate and did not get to deliberate. We also worked the Primary election. Our fruit trees started to produce the cherries , so they were processed into jam and pie filling. At our Famers Market we got a bushel of peaches which have been canned as butter and Lynn wants to make  some jam. I was also busy turning wood for presents and tips for future trips.

But enough of that, we are 99% packed and ready for a trip to Disneyland. As we are staying at Disney’s Grand California Villas in a one bedroom unit, we will have a kitchen and we do a good bit of meal preparation. We will not have a rental car so a trip to a grocery store is not practical.  So a good bit of our suitcases are packed with food and SPAM. Other than food, we are packing light as the weather will be warm and it is forecast to be dry.

Looking forward to seeing friends from near and far. Visiting Trader Sam’s and doing the Adventureland Trading Company Juju quest are on the must do list. Will be reporting on them for sure.

After this Disneyland trip, our fall is pretty darn full with travel to many parts of the globe.
We have had additional pages added to our passports so we are ready to get going to places.

October takes us to Tokyo and to Chicago to ride the City of New Orleans to ... well, New Orleans. Need to sit on those 25 sacks of mail and have a drink in the club car.

November finds us at Walt Disney World (AKL) for Food and Wine, last weekend so we will get to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge (AKL) Kidani, so will bring our night vision and binoculars for critter watching. We do enjoy chatting with the cultural cast members from various parts of Africa. I know, not the best location for Food and Wine, but we like AKL.

December off to the Galapagos with National Geographic. I can not speak highly enough about Nat Geo and the quality of their trips. One gets a great in depth experience with amazingly qualified guides and speakers.

January is a quick trip to WDW for a wedding. Need to figure out a place to spend New Years Eve, if I can stay awake.

February is a WDW/ DCL/ DL trip, to get the most out of our DVC points and our Premier passes.

We hope to get a Malamute puppy late February or March, and will spend some time at home getting the pup integrated into the family.

June finds us heading to the Arctic with Nat Geo in a quest for the great white bear , visiting Norway, Greenland, and Iceland.

Other trips in the works are the Amazon and maybe a return to Alaska via ferry with bicycles. but one never knows. Tibet would be nice, want to spend some time in  Scotland and Isle of Man.  So many places.

I am looking forward to sharing these adventures with one and all.

Soggy Moose Expedition Quest Game!!!! Clue #2

Do You Want to Play a Game?

We have been planning a trip and we have not disclosed any information as to where or when.

So a game is in order, one simply needs to figure out where we are going. I am thinking of posting clues on the Soggy Moose Travel Blog. Not sure how many clues would be needed.  Probably one or two clues a week. I am thinking of limiting the number of guesses to one a week per person. I would use a calendar week of Sunday - Saturday.

Guesses or your correct answer would have to be PM’ed to me (via Facebook), giving a time stamp.  A twenty question game would go to fast.

Also your guess or answer to the location of the trip must include your reasoning as how you came to your answer.

The prize would be a something I have turned on my lathe, maybe a pen or bottle stopper, or maybe something else,  give the winner a choice. Wood used would be of my choosing.

Open to anyone anywhere, after all it is a global game.

So who is in??

Rules subject to change yadda yadda yadda etc etc etc legal mambo jumbo etc etc

“Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life”

CLUE #1 - Hope the volcano doesn’t blow.

CLUE #2 - Distance to the North and South Poles is almost equal.

THE GAME IS AFOOT!!!!!!!

Disneyland Bound

Disneyland Bound

We have a quick trip to Disneyland (DL) starting the end of August for the Marathon weekend. Staying at the Grand Californian.

No real serious planning needed as a DL(or WDW) visit is easy for us.

Only real plan is to see friends who will be there running the various races. Would like to get some good interesting pictures of DL. Might have to visit a place called Trader Sam’s, I hear it is a fun place.

I my regret one decision I made and that is using Super Shuttle to get from SNA to the Grand Californian.  Past experiences have not been great, and as that has been a while back, will be giving them another chance.

As we will have a one bedroom villa, we will pack some food with us for breakfast and lunches. If we have a good view for the World of Color might have to have a get together for viewing.

There a few reasons I have grown to really like Disneyland.
  1. It seems more intimate due to it’s size.
  2. Most importantly is the Mr Toad ride. One of my favorites.
  3. Easy Park Hopping
  4. The first Park, and my first visit there was in 1955.

What is also interesting is how our visits to DL and WDW have changes from a Park Commando Plan to a lets just wing it and see what happens. Kinda fun to just soak in the ambiance.
