VIVE LE TOUR!!!!!! We are almost ready.

Only disadvantage to being packed up early is you forget what was and what was not packed. Try as we may we do make lists for each bag but will still have to do a re-check every once in awhile.  For this trip we will be using many modes of public transport, so we are traveling light. One checked bag each, for carryon we will have a day backpack and another small bag. My small bag will hold camera gear.

We will start this journey in Great Britain, arriving July 4th. On our arrival evening we will be attending the Monty Python  Live (Mostly) performance. The next day we are up early to take the train to Leeds to see friends and see the Grand Depart of Le Tour de France. The next day we we again journey by rail to the Brooklands Museum, again meeting friends and enjoy the day. Aviation and Motorbikes, as well as it is the Ace Cafe Ton Up Day.  The next day we will stay in London and watch Le Tour’s arrival and finish on The Mall.

The next day we rail to Dover and board a P&O Ferry to Calais. Gather our rental car and drive to Lille. We will base there and catching various starts and sections of Le Tour. Excited to see some of the famed cobbles of the famed Paris-Roubaix.

Next we drive to Paris and board an overnight train to Venice. One day in Venice meandering around the canals. Visiting Harry’s Bar, a haunt of Hemingway and many other great authors.

Then we board the Disney Magic to sail south for a few days ending in Barcelona. (more on this part later)

The first part of our trip will be somewhat hectic with late nights and early mornings.

We are so looking forward to the Monty Python Live show, seeing friends in Great Britain, The Grand Depart of Le Tour, lots of rail travel, a ferry crossing of the channel, le Tour in northern France, seeing some of the cobbles of Paris -Roubaix.

Should be a grand trip.

We will be updating our travels here as well as Facebook as Internet is available. So sit back relax and enjoy traveling with us.

SAVE A TRIP KIT

Stuff that always goes with us:

Save a Trip Kit :

As a PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer I would teach my students about a “Save a Dive Kit”. Having a spare mask strap, and o rings etc etc etc. could save them from sitting out a dive.

So being a good Boy Scout, there are some things we never leave home without. These are items we pretty much keep in our bags or ready to be packed in the packing room.

1.  Duck Tape. Never, ever, ever leave home with out it. I have repaired tent poles on Mt McKinley and hemmed tux pants. It simply does it all.

2.  Zip Ties. These helpful little guys have been used to fix the strap on a pair of Crocs. They will hold things in place. They will secure zippers on a piece of luggage. A variety of sizes are handy to have.

3.  A multi tool like a Leatherman or large Swiss Army Knife. I like and carry both. Just remember to keep them in packed luggage and not carryon. I have used mine to repair a pair of binoculars, sharpen an axe, cut sticks (wood to take home for wood turning projects) and open a bottle of wine, ext etc.

4.  An eyeglass repair kit is great for tightening your glasses. A pre trip hint  is to check the screws before your trip and put a small dab of clear nail polish on the top of the screw to keep it from backing out.

5.  Small and medium size first aid kits. The small kit contains a few wipes and bandaids, and some pain relievers of your choice. This small first aid kits goes in your day bag, so when you get a boo boo you can take care of it.

The next size up kit have a few more items. Ace bandage, 4X4’s, Kerlix, Neosporin,         anti fungal cream, Pepto Bismol chewable, anti diarrheal. more aspirin Tylenol, Excedrin etc.

Our primary physician is a traveler and is understanding and will write us scripts for meds we may need. Usually we travel with a course of ciprofloxacin, Tylenol 3, lamotil and other meds as needed for the trip, i.e. anti malarial.

6.  Parachute or Para cord. Very handy for making a clothes line for drying your in room laundry. Many things can be repaired quickly should they break, like a camera strap.

7. Laundry kit. We pack some Dr Bronner’s soap (good multi use soap) , a sink stopper and a few clothes pins. Used in conjunction with your para cord you are good to go with laundry as needed.

8. Clothes pins not only for laundry, but to close that annoying gap in hotel curtains. A big binder clip also work well.

9. Safety Pins are handy for a quick fix.

10. A corkscrew, if not on your multi tool.

11. A small duffel bag just incase you need an extra bag for teh trip home stuffed with all those extra souvenirs etc.

We are all packed and will soon be heading to DEN to start our trip to follow the Tour and the a Disney Cruise to the Greek Islands. More on that as we get closer to our departure.

Duffy Hijacks the Blog

Duffy Hijacks the Blog

Scott left his computer on and went to bed. So I thought you would like to hear from me.

My name is Duffy, I am a Disney Bear. Scott and Lynn got me in 2010 and since then we have been all over the world. When I think about it I have been to all Seven Continents, lots of Disney cruises, many trips to Walk Disney World and Disneyland, not bad for a bear. Some of the places we have traveled to require special clothes and I am very lucky as Lynn makes me clothes for these trips.

So bear with me as I share some of our trips.

It all started at Walt Disney World. Here is how I travel at Disney World and Disneyland. One time I fell out and was lost for a little bit. Since then I now have a safety strap and a dog tag ID, so I can find my way home.

Here is a tour of Walt Disney World and some of my favorite spots.
