To NYC, the town so nice they named it twice:
We were up and at um early and headed to DEN. Got the Jeep parked and a fast check in with a nice chat with a gate agent named Jennifer. She just knew we were starting a journey and had to know what we were up to.
We settled into the UAL club room for a bowl of porridge and coffee. Our flight was rather uneventful but nice all in all. After landing we gathered our bags and made our way to The NewYorker Wyndham for the evening. We were peckish and dropped our bags and struck out to find some food. I had located an Irish Pub named “Pig n Whistle”. Here we enjoyed some pub grub and a house beer.
On the way back to the room we grabbed some fruit for a snack should we get hungry. We are tired from lack of sleep so will crash a bit early this evening. Me thinks we will get a bagel for breakfast as there is a shop nearby.
The history geek in me learned a bit about out hotel The New Yorker Wyndham -
It was opened on January 2, 1930 as the largest Hotel with 43 stories and 2500 rooms.
Nikola Tesla lived in this hotel from 1933 to 1943.
This was the first NYC hotel to install televisions in 1948.
Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King had dinner here in 1956.
The New Yorker hosted Muhammad Ali in 1971 for his match with Joe Frazier.
Today we will find a train to carry us to The Great White North.
